India’s broadband speed limit increased to 80 megabits per second

India has increased its speed limit for mobile internet users to 80Mbps to make sure that internet is not being used for “spying and cyber crimes”, the ministry of telecommunications said on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MOCIT) said the speed limit will remain at 80Mbps for now.

It added that it has also instructed internet service providers to increase their speed to 100Mbps to avoid slowdowns in the country.
